10 year-old Haruna Umar bravely gets his vaccine to protect him from measles
Straight out of the classroom and still wearing his UNICEF school backpack, 10 year-old Haruna Umar bravely gets his vaccine to protect him from measles – a disease that can easily become deadly for children, especially if they are suffering from malnutrition.

Haruna and his parents, originally from Dikwa in Borno state, are living at the Muna camp in Maiduguri for people displaced by the conflict. The vaccination teams are visiting camps for the displaced in Maiduguri to reach the children living there. Altogether, nearly 15,000 children aged between 6 months and 15 years living in the camps will be vaccinated in the current campaign, which is organized by Borno State Government in partnership with UNICEF, the World Health Organization and Doctors without Borders (MSF).
