China's Miao ethnic culture hits Times Square

From Guizhou to New York: China's Miao ethnic culture hits Times Square
China’s Miao ethnic minority group’s song and dance traditions have lit up New York’s Times Square, with a tourism video for Leishan county, in southwest China’s Guizhou Province, playing on the famous Nasdaq screen.
Young girls from the Miao community wowed the notoriously hard-to-please New York crowds with their ethnic costumes and jewelry. Their performance gave locals an unlikely insight into China’s folk culture amid one of the busiest tourist destinations in the world.
The estimated 9.4 million Miao people in China mainly live in Guizhou, Hunan, Yunnan and Sichuan provinces.
After being broadcast on one of the world’s most high-profile big screens for seven days, could this tiny corner of Guizhou Province soon enjoy a tourism boom?
