Russian education authorities plan to include Chinese language in the country’s college-entrance exams by 2020, Sputnik Chinese reported on Tuesday. The director of the Federal Service for the Supervision of Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) told the news service that Chinese would be integrated into 9th grade exams in 2018.
And it also into the Unified State Exam that 11th grade students must pass for entering university by 2020. Foreign languages are an elective subject in the exams, with students able to select from English, French, German and Spanish at present. According to official data, 123 Russian state primary and secondary schools currently teach Chinese, with a total of over 17,000 students learning the language.
