Gaining holiday weight during winter break? Not good news for students in the Department of Dance in east China’s Zhejiang Province.
A group of young girls from Zhejiang Vocational Academy of Art were required to weigh themselves on the very first day of school, and those who got extra pounds were punished by having to run around the playground over 10 times.
The standard weight is assigned according to individual physical characteristic. A student with a height of 1.7 meters is required to keep her weight around 42 to 43 kilograms (92-94 pounds), according to local media.
Adolescent girls often gain weight easily as they lack self-control, according to the teacher of the department. “They’ll have to learn to control their weights and that’s why we take actions to help them stay in shape,” he said.
