Ghana turns 60 years since it attained independence on March 6, 1957 from British after 113 years a colonial rule.
Ghana was the first Sub-Saharan African country to gain independence, under the leadership of Ghana’s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who was pan-Africanist.

Ghanaian President Akufo-Addo will light the perpetual flame on Independence Day, a torch will be lit using the flame and sent throughout the whole of Ghana only to be returned to its starting point on March 6, 2018.
President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned a presidential museum, a legacy project as part of the “Ghana: 60 Years On celebration”.
