Ethiopia's Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

Ethiopia's Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus becomes the World Health Organization's next leader after two rounds of voting Tuesday.

 He succeeds China's Dr. Margaret Chan.
Dr. Tedros ultimately beat Dr. David Nabarro, the British candidate to become WHO's Director General after two rounds of voting by winning 121 votes.

Who is Dr Tedros?
Age: 52
Family life: Married, with five children and lives in Ethiopia
Previous jobs: Ethiopian minister of health and foreign affairs, chairman of the board of the Global Fund to Fight Aids, TB and Malaria

Qualifications: Internationally recognised malaria researcher, with a PhD in community health.
