Interim President of Nigeria - Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo said President Muhammadu Buhari will soon return to the West African nation, local media reported.

"We should wait for him very quickly because he is recovering very quickly and very, very well," Osinbajo said after making a sudden trip to London to visit the sick president Tuesday night and returned to Abuja on Tuesday morning.

Osinbanjo added: "So we had a great time, we had a good conversation on big issues, it is in a very good spirit that he recovers very quickly and he is doing very well.

President Buhari came for a medical service in London on May 7 and left the country's deputy president. Before that, the 74-year-old leader had left Nigeria on 19 January and returned on 10 March for medical treatment. The presidential spokesman said there was "no reason for concern".

The duration of the President's stay in London will be determined by the doctors. The government will continue to function normally under the appropriate leadership of the vice president, "said spokesman Femi Adesina in a statement.
