British Ambassador to Somalia, Harriet Mathews paid a visit to Jubaland State and held meetings with President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) and various Ministers from the region. The leaders discussed various issues crucial to the region such as security, drought, refugee returns, and the electoral process.
During the one day visit, Ambassador Harriet also held meetings with members of civil society representatives from the region, AMISOM, stabilisation, humanitarian and development partners from Kismayo.
Ambassador Harriet emphasised UK’s commitment to improving security capacity in Jubaland and addressing ongoing humanitarian and development challenges, particularly in the context of drought and refugee returns.
