2017 China Dragon Boat Tournament

The annual China Dragon Boat Tournament kicked off its journey across the country on Sunday, with Wanning City in south China’s Hainan Province being the first leg. Some 756 rowers from 36 teams are taking part in the competition.
Divided into two categories between professional and amateur teams, participants were full of enthusiasm and energy in the race despite the cold weather. This year, the race will include seven stops.
The tournament reflects the highest level of competitiveness and attractiveness, with the accumulated prize money reaching 800,000 yuan (116,400 US dollars).
In December, the dragon boat race was listed as part of the National Games of China – a sports event at the national level.
